The Kerry J. Allen Scholarship is being provided annually on
behalf of a national
board of benefactors and contributors from the Church of
Christ (Holiness) U.S.A. Scholarships will be awarded each
year at the National Church of Christ (Holiness) U.S.A.
Congress Convention. Applicants applying for the Kerry J.
Allen Scholarship must compete on four levels: Local,
District, Diocese and National. At each level, one
applicant will be recognized, and at the National Congress
Convention awards of deliberated amounts, by the Board, will
be awarded to designated recipients. The final decision of
awards received will be made by the Board.
Judging Criteria for
Scholarship Award
The score value indicated in
each area represents the maximum points possibly received in
that particular category.

1. REQUIREMENTS: In
order to apply for this award, applicant must meet all of
the following
requirements:
-
Must be an active member of the Church of Christ (Holiness)
U.S.A.
-
Must be an active member of their Local Sunday School and/or HYM
-
Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 from high
school or college
-
Must be a graduating high school senior or a full-time
college student
-
Must agree to become a scholarship financial benefactor upon
completion of college career by giving annually to this
award and becoming an Alumni contributor, and assist in fund
raising endeavors.

2. DOCUMENTATION:
Applicant must present the following:
-
Copy of high school or college transcript
-
Letter of Recommendation from Pastor
-
Letter of Recommendation from Sunday School Superintendent
or HYM Group Leader
-
Letter of Recommendation from High School Principal, College
Counselor or Teacher
-
An application signed by both the District and Diocese
Congress Presidents respectively.

3. ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Applicants must list their accomplishments, i.e., activity
participation, offices held and
awards in the following areas (during their high school and college years only):

4. ESSAY: Each
applicant must write an Essay, not to exceed 300 words typed
and double spaced, on how they
plan to give back to the Community and Church upon
completion of their education, and
provide a 3x5 photo.

5. INTERVIEW: Each
applicant will receive an interview of the Scholarship
Committee on each level. In the
event that an applicant is unable to attend the National
Congress, a proxy may be considered
for hardship cases.
By-Laws and Operating Procedures
-
The Kerry J. Allen Scholarship Board shall be subject to
the laws and obligations of itself and the Nat’l
Congress.
-
All monies collected by this board will be used
primarily to provide scholarships to members of the
Sunday School and Holiness Youth Ministries. Funds can
also be used for Board member travel or other Board
related expenses.
-
All board members are expected to
actively participate in all board functions. Each board
member should meet the board agreed upon contribution
amount every year by May-31.

Scholarship Board Officers will be as follows; Chairman,
Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Correspondence
Secretary and Scholarship Recipient Counselor and
any other officers or committees this Board deems
necessary.

A
Board member can be a member of the board until they
dismiss themselves or the Board dismisses them.
-
The election of Board Officers will be held every four
(4) years. The election will be held the same year as
the Congress Officers election.
-
All monies will be dispersed in the form of a check and
will be signed by two of these three board members:
Chairman, Treasurer or Vice Chairman. All dispersed
monies will have a Payment Request Form (PRF) filled out
and signed by the initiator and the Board Chairman.
Turn-in procedures of the PRF will be the same as the
Congress. All other financial procedures will follow
established Congress procedures.
Applicant Guidelines
-
Applicant must obtain a Scholarship Application and
Rules Packet from his/her respective Local Sunday School
or HYM President, District President or Diocese
President and complete all requirements of the
application before the date of his/her respective
District convention.

In
order to apply for this Award, Applicant must meet all
of the following requirements and other points the
Scholarship Application calls for:

their Local Sunday School and/or H.Y.M.

Must have a cumulative grade
point average of 2.5 from high school or college

Must be a graduating high

As
long as all criteria are met annually, Scholarship
Awards will be distributed (when funds are available),
for a maximum of four consecutive years. There can be
no breaks during the four-year term of the Award.
Recipients must ensure to meet all guidelines and
deadlines on an annual basis to prevent termination of
the Award. Once an Award has been terminated, it will
not be reinstated.
